The next student council meeting will be on Thursday, December 5 until 3:30 pm. There will be officers meeting on Tuesday, December 3 and Wednesday, December 4 during lunchtime in Mrs. Shepherd-Logan’s room.

The 7th grade is conducting a holiday toy drive to benefit those who are less fortunate. All toys can be dropped off in Mr. Day’s classroom #308 from now until Friday, December 11th. If you have any questions in regards to the holiday toy drive, please contact Mr. Day.

There is a sign-up sheet in the office and outside room 105 for students who are interested in students who are interested in being on the yearbook staff this year. There will be a brief informational meeting at the end of 6th hour on Monday November 30th. Students who are not on the list will not be able to attend that meeting.

SPORTS

The 2009 Athletic Booster Holiday Clothing Sale is under way!! Deadline to place an order is Friday, November 20th. Order forms are available in the office.

PARENTS

Thanksgiving Recess will start at the end of the day on Tuesday, November 24, and classes will resume on Monday, November 30. Have a great break everyone!!

• Tickets for “Tis the Season Holiday Concert” featuring both middle school and high school band and choirs are now available. Concerts will be held at the high school auditorium on Thursday, December 3, Friday, December 4 at 7:00 pm and Saturday, December 5 at 4:00 pm. Order forms for tickets are available in the middle school office for the extraordinary event!!

  • Northwest Zero Tolerance Coalition, Presents Ken Krygel. Hosted by Armada High School. Wednesday, October 21, 2009 @ 7pm. Mr. Ken Krygel’s program is the best one out there for practical, up to date information about what is happening with students and drugs in schools everywhere.

  • CARE’s Young Women Lives group helps young women ages 13-17 to:
    Celebrate and Enhance their Strengths, Creativity, and Intelligence.
    This group begins soon, and is still enrolling. Please send this flyer to anyone who might be interested. Feel free to print or to use excerpts. Thank you!  
  • The Richmond Recreation Department will be holding a Babysitting Beyond the Basics course Saturday, October 24th from 9 am – 3 pm, for those 11 years and older, at the Richmond Community Center.  This American Heart Association Course provided by A1 Health and Safety will teach participants babysitting tips, basic first aid, Heimlich Maneuver, and pediatric C.P.R.  The $30 fee includes a workbook and upon successful completion each student will receive a certificate of attendance.  Students are asked to bring a lunch and a pencil to the class.  Interested people should register at the Richmond Community Center -36164 Festival Dr., Richmond, MI 48062.  Questions please feel free to call 586-727-3064.
  • Richmond Middle School will be offering an abstinence only sexuality series to all 7th health students.  The Aspire curriculum is sponsored by the Macomb County Abstinence Partnership, a program of the YMCA of Metro Detroit.  The program promotes a positive approach to abstinence from risky behaviors, and recognizes parents/guardians as the primary educators of their children.  There will be a parent meeting held on October 8th, 2009 from 6 -7 in the Middle School Library to provide a forum in which parents may preview the curriculum and to ask any questions that they may have.  Also prior to the curriculum being taught in our 7th grade health classes, your son or daughter  will receive an opt out form that you will need to sign in order for your child to not participate.  If you have questions, please contact the Assistant Principal, Becky Borwick at (586) 727 7552.
