TEAM ATTENDANCE POLICY
Section
VI: Attendance at athletic
practice sessions and contests.
Attendance at
practice sessions is essential to prepare athletes physically and
mentally for athletic contests.
All team members are required to be at all athletic practice sessions
and contests at the time designated by the coach.
Both
parents/guardians and student/athletes must understand that any
absence may affect an athlete’s performance,
playing time, and, therefore, his/her relative position on the team.
1. Absences, can/may, only be excused
if communication is made with the head coach.
2. If the absence request is for more
than one day, it must be submitted at least one week in advance.
3. Excused absences may/can
result in loss of playing time.
4. Excused Absences: (Communication between the student/athlete and
coach is imperative.)
B)
Illness –
parental telephone call or note must be completed within 24 hours
C)
Special circumstances, i.e. academics, family commitments, etc..
approved in advance by the coach.
D)
Injured students are expected to be in attendance at all team
practices to support their team and observe
practice. The only exception
would
be a doctor/trainer stipulation in writing that the athlete is NOT
to be present at team practices.
(Exception – documented
doctor/physical
therapy appointments, etc.. relating to such injury)
E)
Work is NOT an excused absence.
F)
School Suspensions are NOT an excused absence.
G) School activities that interfere with athletics must be
communicated well in advance with the head coach.
H)
Sunday practices, even if scheduled in advance, are the only
practices that are
Unexcused
absences are absences that are not considered excused and will be
handled in the following
manner:
First Offense:
1 game suspension (no dress)
Second
Offense: 2 game suspension (no
dress)
Third Offense:
Immediate dismissal from the team
