ATHLETIC TEAM ATTENDANCE POLICY
MAIN
PREMISE:
Section VI:
Attendance at athletic practice sessions and contests.
Attendance at practice sessions is essential to prepare athletes physically
and mentally for athletic contests. All team members are required to be at
all athletic practice sessions and contests at the time designated by the
coach.
EXCUSED
ABSENCES:
Both parents/guardians and student/athletes must understand that any
absence may affect an athlete’s performance, playing time, and, therefore,
his/her relative position on the team.
1.
Absences, can/may, only be excused if communication is made with the
head coach.
2.
If the absence request is for more than one day, it must be submitted
at least one week in advance.
3.
Excused absences may/can result in loss of playing time.
4. Excused Absences: (Communication between the student/athlete and coach
is imperative.)
A)
Funerals
B)
Illness – parental telephone call or note must be completed within 24
hours
C)
Special circumstances, i.e. academics, family commitments, etc..
approved in advance by the coach.
D)
Injured students are expected to be in attendance at all team
practices to support their team and observe practice. The only exception
would be a doctor/trainer stipulation in writing that the athlete is NOT to
be present at team practices. (Exception – documented doctor/physical
therapy appointments, etc.. relating to such injury)
E)
Work is NOT an excused absence.
F)
School Suspensions are NOT an excused absence.
G)
School activities that interfere with athletics must be communicated
well in advance with the head coach.
5.
Sunday practices, even if scheduled in advance, are the only practices
that are
not mandatory.

Unexcused

the following manner:
